If you've seen "The Last Samurai" starring Ken Watanabe and Tom Cruise, then you know just how grand and inspiring the movie was. The same can be said of this great Samurai collection consisting of 12 excellent written tracks. All the elements, including the flute, drums, sound of nature and orchestral strings provide the gateway to the ways of the Samurai and somehow seems to revive the forgotten code of bushido or honor. Contributing artists include Uttara Kuru, Kiyoshi Yoshida, Eri Sugai and Seiichi Kyoda. One of the most inspiring tracks is "Winter Dance" composed and arranged by Seiichi Kyoda. "Winter Dance", perhaps best described with this quote taken from the writer himself, goes something like this: "This song starts with a Tabla rhythm and Shinobue (a small horizontal bamboo flute) melody, and gives us a feeling of primitive energy. Our image is of a fantastic night with villagers dancing around a large fire. Perhaps it is a view of a remote, still undiscovered world." We couldn't have said it better.
