Review
Matt's return with "Groovosphere" is a pleasant one as the CD ventures into more experimental and unpredictable chord progressions. Yes, the new CD has more Chill, but Marshak's great guitar trademark is even more prominent here. You'll hear a greater influence of Larry Carlton in the track "Big Skye Dream", and as the track name implies, it really feels dreamy alright. Matt's funky attitude gets funkier with just about every track possessing that groove melody. Recall from the review of Matt's first album, we coined him as the new kid on the block and the diversiy of the kind of tunes available, well "Groovosphere" isn't as varied since just about every song has a similar funky and joyous mood, except of course "Wind Chill Factor", the romantic "Did You Know" dedicated to his wife. If you want to hear a different side of Matt, try out "Honestly" as he almost solos the whole tune. Hear selected tunes from this CD on CIM Radio.
