Matt Marshak's debut is an impressive effort to bring enthusiasm to the smooth jazz format while it's gradually losing interest and taste overtime. The fact is this is no ordinary smooth jazz release, as Matt Marshak, a new comer, has a fresh guitar voice comparable to Larry Carlton, but certainly much more exciting and funkier to the least. The excellent diversity and arrangement of the tunes in this album makes it a joy to listen to while driving or walking down the street for no apparent reason. A rare thing for an album of any kind, "This Time Around" is really an album where you'll enjoy each and every song to the fullest no matter what mood you are really in. Of course all this unique sound of Marshak resulted in him being called the hottest new talent in smooth jazz. As an indie artist, guitarist Matt Marshak is the one to watch for when it comes to fire chart topping action. The new guy would beat even the most polished smoothers out there. I don't care what type of music you listen to, because you'll regret not buying this CD. Highly recommended.
